Earlier this summer, I was invited through Upwork to interview for the lead designer position for a popular, well-respected CrossFit gym in Australia. Although I have some complaints about using Upwork as part of my freelance/independent contracting work, I love that it has the power to connect me with such a wide variety of potential clients all across the world.
What makes working with CrossFit Collingwood great is that they are a dream client — they know what they want while encouraging creativity, and they are willing to pay for quality. I know I was up against other designers who were probably just as talented and motivated as I am, but in the end, I’m the one who was chosen. Hurray!
This is my first time working with a well-established fitness brand, and I’m prepared to do everything I can to maintain their integrity and continue attracting clients to their gym. Above and below, you can see the mockups I created to visually capture their brand in both print and digital formats. I’m going for a clean, sharp design with just a touch of grunge, which I believe captures the cleanliness of their gym, the professionalism of their coaches, and the blood, sweat and tears that go into a CrossFit routine.
